I actually read a backlist book - I don't do that nearly often enough!

Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore is a fun historical romance with some deeper themes. I loved the subplot about women's suffrage and the politics of an election since I work in election administration.

I admired Annabelle, the plucky heroine, who strives to find true love despite society's restraints on her as a poor vicar's daughter. And Sebastian, the Duke of Montgomery, is a swoony cinnamon-roll hero. I enjoyed this, even thought it was steamier than I expected.

I plan to continue reading the League of Extraordinary Women series; Lady Lucie's story is next.

Ok, I really, really liked this book. Full of history that I didn't know, and it felt well researched for a romance novel. Loved that it had facts at the back of the book which proved it was well researched. I loved the connection between the main characters. The side characters added breadth to the story and were interesting in their own right. Can't wait to read more of this series.
