I discovered Bailey Cates and "Brownies and Broomsticks" quite by accident, and I am so glad I did. This book is a charming cozy with distinctive characters and two possible love interests for our heroine to choose from. I can't wait for the next book to come out so that I can see which of the two hot studs is going to move into the lead in Katie's affections. Magic adds a hint of the mystical to the solving of a murder mystery. The plot hangs together and the resolution makes sense. Five stars for this book and bring on the sequel.

Better than average cozy mystery. Interesting characters and the subtle addition of magic is a nice mix. Not your standard paranormal -- the author applies it lightly, so it should please most readers.

Enjoyable cozy with magic, a bakery and a couple of hunky guys. A very good start to the series. The magical element is handled very nicely and with humor. The recipes are excellent. 4 stars

This was really a cute, interesting read. I don't care for books with witches in them but this one will probably change mind. The main character and her puppy were just adorable. An easy read and after all there is magic all around us!

Katie is fresh out of a breakup and in a position at her job that really isn't going anywhere. When she receives an offer to join her aunt and uncle at the bakery they are opening, she jumps at the chance. She moves south to Savannah. She's always had a good relationship with her aunt and uncle, but has never really "known" them. This will shock you, but Katie has always felt different. It turns out she is a hereditary witch. (And of course now she fits right in!)
I liked the characters; both Katie and the multiple secondary ones. I do wonder at the love triangle (Declan- a firefighter and very close to Ben, Katie's uncle and Steve a journalist and also a witch. The boys have a history (of course they do!). I don't really like Steve (Katie girl- thought this was condescending). This has a slow start, but picked up.
