This is the 3rd book in the Cowboy series and is my favorite.
Buck had lived with 14 yr old Hannah Grosseck and her family for a period of time and had been badly abused by her father. Buck tried on occasion to save Hannah and her mother from the same kind of beatings that he recieved but Buck was helpless and even more abused for trying to help. He vowed someday to seek revenge on the man who had abused him. Now a grown man, Buck was determined to take over the Grossek spread. What he had not counted on was the beautiful woman that Hannah had become. While he tried very hard to stay angry over what had happened to him as a youngster, Hannah's gentle sweetness soon would heal Buck's battered heart. Could two wounded peronalities learn to allow love to heal them?

Buck will have his revenge on Hannah's father by taking the old man's ranch and making it his own. But he doesn't count on falling in love with Hannah, whose sweetness just might heal his battered heart.

Golden haired and blue eyed she was lovely enough to make any man forget the past. Any man except Buck Hodson. For though she had more than fulfilled the promise of beauty in the fourteen year old girl he'd once known, Buck would always remember that back then he had been her fathers whipping boy, helpless and abused. Well, he was helpless no longer and now he would have his revenge by taking the old mans ranch and making it his own. The only thing he hadn't counted on was faling in love with Hannah, whose gentle sweetness could heal his battered heart if only he would let her.

This is the third book of the Cowboys series and it was a good book though I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two. There are 12 books in the series, in order they are:

Jake
Ward
Buck
Drew
Sean
Chet
Matt
Pete
Luke
The Mavericks ---Zeke
A Texan's Honor ---Bret
Texas Tender ---Will

From the back cover...

The freedom of the range, the bawling of the longhorns, the lonesome night watch beneath a vast, starry sky-they got into a man's blood until he knew there was nothing better than the life of a cowboy...except the love of a good woman.

Golden-haired and blue-eyed, she was lovely enough to make any man forget the past. Any man except Buck Hobson. For though she had more than fulfilled the promise of beauty int he fourteen year old girl he's once known, buck would always remember that back then he had been her father's whipping boy, helpless and abused. Well, he was helpless no longer, and now he would have his revenge by taking the old man's ranch and making it his own.
