This book was INTENSE. Read it in two sittings. (Would have been one had it not been 1 AM).

Some reviewers describe Bull Mountain as "hillbilly noir" and that is about right. It follows the sad and violent story of several generations of one family, focusing on the last of the bloodline who is trying to be a good person. Chapters jump back and forth in time and focus on different characters, but the plot clips along and is never confusing. The story is very, very dark but is ultimately a tale of redemption.
