A GREAT first of a series! I laughed, I chuckled and was happy when it all turned out well! If she didn't make lists, she could get a lot more done! I kept thinking half the book was her writing out her lists, and didn't think I'd enjoy all her experiences as motherhood in the first! But, a truly creative, well-plotted story! did sign up to get the next two, hope they're half as good!

Kate is pregnant and just starting labor. Before she gets to the hospital, she gets a phone call regarding her mysterious brother in law, George. She becomes obsessed with finding out what George has to do with a recent murder. Even after the baby is born, instead of going to her old job, Kate becomes a private investigator ... just not officially. The mystery runs deeper than Kate realizes, and people keep dying.
I couldn't wait to read this one; it just seemed like such fun. I had to laugh at the "To Do Lists" that Kate would come up with, which reminds me of myself. The characters were intriguing, and I couldn't figure out "who done it" until the story got around to unfolding the mystery. I can't wait for the sequel to come out in March 2010.

This was a cute cozy. I really enjoyed it because after having two kids, I could really identify with the heroine. If you've never had any children, I could see how this book may not be your "cup of tea", though, as there are a lot of references to the main character's recovery after having her baby, her breastfeeding trials, fatigue, hormones, etc.
The actual mystery part of it was pretty good- it kept me guessing for a while. There sure seemed to be a lot of dead bodies turning up, too! It was kind of funny to picture this plucky little lady trying to track down a killer with her baby and all of her baby gear in tow! I loved her "mentor" Galigani, the original P.I. character in the story, and I hope that he plays a part in the next book, which I did put onto my WL. Overall I enjoyed it.

Good start to a new mystery series with a new mother as sleuth. Editing and proofreading could be better. The main character mentions her pelvic pain too much for my liking. I've had two children and didn't complain that much. A little profanity that didn't add to the story. I'll read the next in the series.
