Another great novel by Hopkins. This book is even better than the first. There are more descriptive characters and her description of the Nevada dessert is lovely. I didnt want this book to end - especially the way it ended. I hope she will write another one soon! Dont be detered by the size and number of pages in this book. It is a quick read and an easy one too! I highly reccomend it!

This book is by far one of the most raw pieces of literature I have ever read. It was sentimental, suspensful, romantic, and so very tragic. It contained foul language, sexual content, yet I feel it is a book any teen should read. Maybe this will make them stop whining, get off their a** and finally be thankful for what they have. Five stars.

As anyone knows, Ellen Hopkins is a fantastic writer, I love everything she has written to date. This book was no exception, great book, awesome way of writing, and even better viewpoint, I literally cried, laughed out loud and got chills when reading this book. You really connect with the character.

This book was very articulate in reading for it is in the form of poems but still has a story to tell, that is very strong. This is a must reader.

"Burned" is the best book Ellen Hopkins has written. It is inspirational and beautifully written. You can't put it down! Don't be fooled by how many pages there are, because if you really look at the pages, they are not filled up. It almost looks like a poem, but when it is said out loud, it sounds like a book.
It satisfies your thirst for a great book, and if beautifully written.

Poetically written Pattyn speaks of a life with a father who never really recovered from a tragic and let down pass. Caught in the act which goes against the religious beliefs of her father Pattyn is sent to live with a relative who not only shows her an alternative view of life that she is not use to seeing, but she also meets someone special. While she was sent away to learn a lesson and to realize that her religion will rule her life she finds a new and wonderful life. Unfortunately the past for Pattyn is not just her past, it is also her haunting and will not let her go easily.

Not my most favorite Hopkins' book but I still thoroughly enjoyed this. If I were to rank, in order, I'd put the Kristina books first, Tricks second, and the rest third.
There is no book by Ellen Hopkins not worth reading IMO. I truly think she has talent seeping from her pores. I'm so thankful I found her books when I did and that I've been able to keep up with the new releases. So many works degrade with time and this is not the case with Hopkins'. While some other authors claim to bring better and better novels to the table without actually coming through, Hopkins' doesn't talk it - she brings it.

Pattyn Von Stratten is searching for the love she isn't getting from God or her family in this novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Ellen Hopkins.

It all started with a dream. Just a typical fantasy, but for a girl raised in a religious--and abusive--family, a simple dream could be the first step toward eternal damnation. Now Pattyn Von Stratten has questions. Questions about God, and sex, and mostly love. Will she ever find it? Pattyn experiences the first stirrings of passion, but when her father catches her in a compromising position, events spiral out of control.

Pattyn is sent to live with an aunt in the wilds of rural Nevada to find salvation and redemption. What she finds instead is love and acceptance, and for the first time she feels worthy of both--until she realizes that her old demons will not let her go. Those demons lead Pattyn down a path to hell--not to the place she learned about in sacrament meetings, but to an existence every bit as horrifying.

In this gripping and masterful novel told in verse, Ellen Hopkins embarks on an emotional journey that ebbs and flows. From the highs of true love to the lows of loss and despair, Pattyn's story is utterly compelling. You won't want this story to end--but when it does, you can find out what's next for Pattyn in the sequel, Smoke.
