Taking place in 1895 this non-fiction book follows the the disappearance of 26 year old Bridget Cleary, who was thought to be a changeling, left behind by fairies or evil spirits. When her burned body was found, eight family members, including her husband, were arrested. This occurrence played into the hands of the English, who at the time were fighting Irish home rule. Excellent book.
Quite an interesting story,A bit confusing at times but good.

The actual story of Bridget Cleary was interesting but the book also went into a lot of background information about that time period and before. Some of this helped in understanding the reasoning of the people involved but a lot of it was unnecessary. I found myself wanting to skip parts and get back to the story of Bridget.
