This book is very "academic" and a good reference. It isn't the best book to try and dig into as a beginner, but makes an excellent 2nd or 3rd book (I believe you need at least 3 or 4 books to study from). I have been reading about specific subjects in this book after introducing them through other means. The book is very thorough and explains in detail about the C++ programming language.
