Very weak and messy story

Started out interesting when Michelle is looking for her husband, Cliff, thinking he got lost while looking for a light 'down the hill' from their cabin and calls out the sheriff etc.
Then it takes a turn and it's Cliff looking for Michelle and she's confused because now her whole life is different
At that point it just gets weird, then bring on the backwoods families and their stories which kind of take over and it just gets messy and confusing and places disgusting
Starting out I wanted to like this book but I didn't, the writing seems to be okay (I'm very picky) but the story just wasn't what I expected and it goes into fantasy supernatural weirdness and I don't like that kind of reading unless it makes more sense than this one does
