This is #6 in Nancy Martin's wonderful Blackbird Sisters series. I have thoroughly enjoyed each of these books, and "Have Your Cake and Kill Him Too" is no exception.

The combination of Main-Line, old-money, Philadelpia families and goings-on with the recently impoverished 3 Blackbird sisters - each with their own quirks and foibles is an addictive mix. Nora, the protagonist, is a both fragile and strong survivor; who faints upon seeing a dead body - however, seems to stumble over an inordinate number of them.

Very funny, acerbic and enjoyable.

While I like the mysteries and the antics of the Blackbird sisters crack me up, sometimes Nora's life seems too grim. I had real trouble getting thru this book since it just made me feel unhappy.

For the first 100 pages or so, all the Blackbird sisters did was bicker. Boy did that get on my nerves. I actually gave up reading and went to bed hoping that the next time I picked it up, it wouldn't get on my last nerve. No such luck! The only good thing I got from this book was a "Z" male for a challenge. This is definitely not a series I would continue reading.

Society columnist Nora Blackbird is nosy and literally gets her nose into things that don't really concern her, like murder of Zell Orcutt. He is merely her clients (Delilah) client and she just happened to be at his house when his body was found. When Delilah is accused of the murder, Nora starts investigating. There are lots and lots of people involved and it is difficult to keep you mind on what is happening, who is actually involved in the murder and Nora's personal life. Nora finds out she is pregnant and the father of the baby is a mobster whom she loves but dumps anyway but is still having sex with. Her new boyfriend, Richard is a journalist and IMHO she doesn't love him but is stringing him along. I found Nora's attitude and wishy-washy manner irritating. For pete's sake, if you don't love Richard, drump him already. And if Michael's career goes against your morals, get rid of him too. Afterall, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

Who knew there could be so much sex in the city of Philadelphia? Heiress-go-lightly Nora Blackbird is teetering on the brink of losing her job as the city's most talked-about society columnist. Her sisters, desperate housewife Libby and fiercely independent Emma, are exploring their animal natures, with dangerous results. And even as two hot men vie for a long-term place by Nora's side, she learns she's in a delicate condition....

Another in the Blackbird sister mystery series, a thorough romp through Philadelphia high society and New Jersey's underworld. A great read.

Another clever cozy mystery by Nancy Martin. Nora is in the early stages of pregnancy and she is pretty sure who the father of her child is. She is to meet a friend at the Finch Farm and finds security guards not allowing any access inside the home. Zell Orcutt is found in the garden with an arrow in his back and there are just too many suspects. Nora gets involved only to clear her friend, Delilah, and learns the sordid truth about Zell. Nora also discovers the Richard D'eath's true motives in his pursuit of her. As usual, the book is a lovely combination of romance and mystery and humor on top!

I am thoroughly enjoying this series featuring the wacky Blackbird sisters and their unique position in life. One of the things I enjoy most is the names and nicknames given to all the high society characters in the books. I am going to be very disappointed when I come to the end of this greatly entertaining series.
