Caldecott medalist and one of the leading lights in the internationally known Folly Grove Designers, Burton illustrated and wrote this cowboy story for her little sons in 1941. This recent edition is unique in that the black and white block print illustrations are on different color pages reflecting the tone of the story. Calico, the Wonder Horse, manages to save his master, the town, and rehabilitate a bad man named Stewy Stinker.
This was a great book with fabulous illustrations and a useful moral.
