This is a quick, fast mystery. I liked the lead character and the fact she doesn't take any guff. I thought the ending was tied up a little too loosely, but it worked for me anyway. The picture Sammi Carter paints of Divinity's Candy Shop is wonderful. You can almost smell the chocolate and sugar and see the jars full of candy treats. Can't wait to read her next one. Also comes with candy recipes at the back of the book. By the end of this one,I couldn't wait to try out the toffee recipe!

I wanted to like this book, but found it only just ok. It's the typical cozy scenario - a single woman in a cute job finds herself in the middle of a murder that she feels compelled to solve herself. It felt too predictable, too similar to many other small town women sleuth cozies. Plus, all the talk about candy made me so hungry!! I'm hoping this series develops a little more depth and personality. I'd like to see more of the small town characters fleshed out a bit more too.

First in a new cozy series Abby inherits a Candy Shoppe in Colorado and leaves the Corporate world as well as her cheating husband.....good mystery with the right touch of humor

Promising start to an interesting new series. Author needs to make the heroine less emotional and as intelligent as expected of someone who's been an attorney for 10 years before it will be as appealing as it ought to be.

Quick and easy read. Keeps you guessing till the very end. Interesting characters. The only complaint I could have is that the ending was a little too easy. But then again it is a cozy so I guess I'm just being picky. This is the first in this series and I will definitely be reading the rest!!!

Nice cozy, good setting, interesting characters. Protagonist a little too stupid when it comes to personal risk, but that's a problem with many otherwise good mysteries, and it doesn't ruin the story.

Really good new series taking place in a candy store. Main character is Abby who has inherited the candy store and just moved to town. This is the first in the series.

Wonderful book, had a hard time finding this in the bookstore though, was the last copy. =) I really enjoyed it, and have since put the rest of her series on my TBR list on PBS.

Altho they promise candy recipes - they hide them in the back of the book so you are salivating as you are reading! One way to keep the book in good condition. This is about a person who has had some rough spots in her life - returns to her home and inherits her aunt's candy store. And then she spends more time hunting down a killer than running the candy store - even tho there appear to be some income issues. Run of the mill - not outstanding - but enjoyable for a quickie mindless read!

This is a nice Colorado "cozy" and there are candy recipes!

I enjoyed this book a lot. The author writes well and her books just seem to flow for me. I like Abby's character a lot! She seems fisty, set in her ways and loving all at the same time. If you enjoy a cute mystery then this is the book for you!

I really had no clue about this book when i ordered it. I had read it was about a candy shop and a murder. After just a few pages i knew it was one that i had to automatically buy every book in the series for. It is an extremly quick read *Its only 217 pages* and the writer makes it fluent for just a casual weekend *possibly sooner if you don't have distractions* read. I really liked this one, only problem is the candy descriptions made me want to raid the local grocery store =).

This is the first in the Candy Shop Mystery series. I'm surprised at how good this series is despite the off-putting titles of the three I've read so far. Abby Shaw has given up her job as a corporate lawyer to take on the candy shop, Divinity, that her Aunt Grace willed to her. The setting is in a lovely little town in Colorado. Abby finds herself caught up in the mystery of who set her friend's, and almost her date's, store on fire, where his body is later found. Abby's brother is a suspect. Abby's character is very believable and so down to earth that I felt like I'd met her a lot of times before. The dialogue is great between characters and there is just enough mystery mixed with a bit of comedy here and there to make it a light, cozy mystery. My only complaint is that since Abby was a corporate lawyer, I think she might be a bit more savvy about how she goes about doing her own sleuthing and keeping herself out of trouble and harm's way. I read this in about a day or two, so it's a quick and very pleasant read.

Fast and fun read. I love the small town candy shop setting. Solving murder mysteries in between making sweets sounds like a dream job to me, and I just love the idea of including candy recipes in the back of the book.
Great first story! Can't wait to read more
I liked this book. It's a small town setting in Colorodo where Abby, the main character and heroine, inherits a candy store from her aunt. She's trying to be involved in the community when another shop owner dies in a fire and her brother is the number one suspect. You have to read it for the rest but it's a fun mystery with some candy recipes. The drawback is that this feels like it's been done before (I'm thinking Goldy from Diane Mott Davidson's series) so when you're done reading it, you feel like you've already read it before and just forgot some of the detail.
Overall, a fun mystery though and Abby Shaw is so likeable!

Good first book, enjoyed the characters, hoping they continue to develop. Look forward to the next one.
Great beginning to a new sereis, I am going to read the rest.
First in a new series I plan to continue reading. A good mystery; a good read.
The mystery was decent enough and I might read more in this series. Not too deep or involving, but okay.
This is the first book in the Candy Shop Series.
Abby has moved back to her small home town of Paradise, Colorado after being gone for 20 years. Some of the townsfolk accept her right away, and some feel she has to prove herself. Even her brother, Wyatt is upset that she left. She has inherited her aunt's candy shop business and she is getting over the divorce from her cheating husband, and is so hurt by his betrayal that she wants nothing more to do with relationships. However, when the smooth talking, good looking, Brandon asks her to dinner, she finally takes a chance. When she is stood-up, she is hurt, but when Brandon's place of business, Man About Town, goes up in flames, she knows in her heart that something is wrong.
When Abby's brother is made the prime suspect by the police, she can't just sit around and let him take the fall.
A nice little cozy.
