Book one of an eight book series about the Owl Gaurdians of GaHoole. Although fiction there is a great deal of information about different kinds of owls. The author has a great imagination! Suitable for Young Adult readers.

Great series my 11 yr old son loves them and I have to admit I do as well. Very well written with a lot of real info about owls.

In true fantasy fashion, Lasky has spun a tale that is simple enough for young readers to grasp, yet intricate enough to not belittle them. As an adult, I found that there is plenty to keep me engaged, and I look forward to the next book. I think parents will approve of the message, as good morals are taught, friendship is rewarded, and respect for elders, traditions, and ingenuity win the day, or night, as the case is! Well written, carefully crafted, and exciting word usage helps with the flow of the tale. It seems obvious that she did a great deal of study of owls, and has inspired me to do so, as well! I am off to find out about "Elf Owls," so happy reading.

My 9 year old (at the time) and I read this book together for a homeschool book group we belonged to. It was wonderful. A very intriguing story line with lots of fascinating details about owls. It was one of the few books we found that was equally popular among boys, girls, and parents.
