Be Careful, Brian and Other Tales was published in 1996. It is part of the Four Little Friends Series. From the back of the book: "Meet the Four Little Friends! Patsy, Brian, Mei Su, and Sam love doing things together. Teamwork makes everything easy and fun--from getting kites out of trees to tracking bears! Share all their adventures in this collection of charming tales. Youngsters will long to return to the world of Gyo Fujikawa's classic illustrations again and again!"
In Be Careful, Brian, there are four rhyming stories. The first is Be Careful, Brian, in which Brian and Sam were flying Sam's kite. Sam had to go home, but let Brian continue to fly his kite. Brian tripped and fell and lost the kite. The wind blew it away. Brian told Sam the truth, hoping he wouldn't be mad. Sam knew it was an accident. The girls came to say they knew where the kite was. Working together, the four friends were able to get the kite out of the tree where it had been caught.
The other stories/rhymes are a little shorter: Sad Sam, featuring Sam and his puppy Rags; Free as a Bird, featuring Patsy; and Berry Berry Scare, featuring the four friends and a baby bear.
