Don't let anyone bother you when reading this book.
Unpredictable Merry Gentry is off an running, trying to understand her Aunt and the needs of her people. I love all 5 books, currently issued from this series.
You have to have an open mind for all of the sex, us humans are so conservative!

I was very hesitant to even start this series. I was pleasently surprised. I've been reading Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake series and for me once I begin a series I read it until I am up to the most recent. I can't tell you how many times I put down a book and said, "I am not reading this anymore!" I got the first two of Meredith Gentry and thought if these books don't have more substance to them than overly described redundunt sex scene after redundunt sex scene then I'm not reading them. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a little hottness in my reading but, I am so not into the sex is power message that is driven totally into the ground in Anita. I don't mean to compare and not review but, I am grouchy about the time I've devoted to Anita to be more disappointed after each book. Now Merideth she's a girl who wants it all. Who doesn't love a faery princess, right? She is living amoung humans, working for a supernatural PI firm, refusing to be kept financially by the queen. Her work with the PI firm lands her in the middle of a faery outcast with a big secret to keep and Meredith's undiscovered powers save them from certain distruction. She's also trying to beat her cousin Cel to the throne by getting pregnant first, by one of her royal gaurd. Who are the hottest among the Queen's ravens. she's starting to get smart realizing that whoever gets her pregnant will be her husband and whoever that is will also be King... then she will have to leave the rest behind and she is begining to have deep feelings for some. Right now it's not one crazy sex scene after another and there is a plot and political manuevering. It's one of those books that make me miss the characters when I'm not reading about them, like friends. Very surprised can't wait to read more I hope they continue on that track.

The Merideth Brooks novels give sci-fi lovers a new way to enjoy the genre by convesinly placing demon fey & humanity side by side in present day contents. Very sexy, very graphic, but a great read if u dare!

After elucing relentless assassination attempts by Prince Cel, hre cousin and rival for the Faerie crwon, Meredith Gentry, Los Angeles private eye, has a whole new set of problems. To become queen, shew must bear a child before Cel can father one of his own. But havoc lies on the horizon: People are dying in mysterious, frighting ways, and suddenly the very existence of the place known as Faerie is at grave risk. I bought all the books in the series (5 at the time of this writing) for 50 cents a piece. I made it to book 2 (this one)before just getting rid of them. Anita.. I mean Merry.. I mean Anita... is there really a difference, because I really do not see one. Doyle/Micah whatever. I loved the first 3 or 5 books of the Anita series and was so hoping that the first of this series would be good as well, before LH trashed it with repeated sex scenes. Which by the way seem to blend together in sameness at times. There are people who read this for the the sex and more power to you, but if you want a story forget about reading any more drop the series.

I really enjoyed this book. I love the characters and I can't wait to read what happens next.
If you like the first one, you will have no problem enjoying the second, I actually think it's better than first.
Faerie princess and private detective Meredith Gentry juggles love, sex, intrigue, magic, and more in this witty and sensual novel from Laurell K. Hamilton. Merry has her hands full: she's desperate to conceive a child and thereby claim the Unseelie throne; she's the target of intrigue from both the Seelie and Unseelie Courts; her newest client is an exiled goddess with a secret that could get them all killed; and a hideous fey force that alarms even her formidable lover-warriors is loose in Los Angeles.
loved this book ! gread absorbing read :-)

I enjoyed getting to know some of the smaller, or demi fey. Of course Merry wins over everyone in faerie except the power hungry, sadistic royals and the racist Seelies.

2nd in the Meredith Gentry series. Really builds up at the end and leaves you hunting for the next book. Hard to put this one down.

This is the second installment in the Merry Gentry series. The premise of the series is that Merry must get pregnant before her cousin, Cel, to be able to inherit the throne in the Unseelie Court. She has not gotten pregnant yet, but her powers are growing - she is becoming a force to be reckoned with. There is sex, adventure and political intrigue - what more can you want.
I think that this series is wonderful and provocative. The Merry Gentry books are the only ones that I have read by the author - I am excited to keep reading her books.

I love Hamiltion's Anita Blake series but I'm just not sure I like Meredith Gentry. This series is very similar in characters but set in a totally different world. This is the second book in the series. If you like lots of rough sex scenes then you may like this series. I just wish it had more plot action with less emphasis on the sex...

This is the second book in the "Merry Gentry" series, by Laurell K. Hamilton. This book is a continuation and was a great read. The ending seemed a little hurried and too quick to my liking. It left the readers with many questions that helped the need for another book, but it sill felt hurried.
The first book introduces many characters that in the second book I came to love. Each question answered leaves many still unanswered and many more with guesses.
In this story in order to become queen, Meredith Gentry, must bear a child before Cel can father one of his own. But another problem arises. She finds the true reason why the King of the Seelie court exiled a fey. She becomes aware that people are dying in mysterious, frightening ways that point to the fey and one of her own men has now grown into his power after he almost fades. So now, while she enjoys the greatest pleasures of her life attempting to conceive a baby with the warriors of her royal guard, she must fend off an ancient evil that could destroy the very fabric of reality. And that's just her day job.
