Carter is a freshman. He'd like to find a girlfriend but he stutters around boobs and belly buttons. Carter will maneuver through a freshman year of sports, jocks, bullies, rivals, first love - and finally getting it.

This book is hilarious! Seriously, pick this one up!! Brent Crawford has captured the awkwardness of adolescence and made it a fun read. I couldn't stop laughing.

I think this one would be a great read, but I loved the narrator for the audiobook. I had seen the book around, but a co-worker told me to listen to the audio and I'm so glad I did.

The story goes through Carter's freshman year, and the way narrator Nick Podehl captures Carter's voice is so perfect and makes this one a really fun listen. Check out the sample audio. CARTER FINALLY GETS IT is one of my new favorite audiobooks and must-haves for those new to trying books on CD (and of course long time fans, too).

The thing I liked most about this one, aside from the great narration, is that Carter is easy to relate to. He plays sports, but he's not really a jock. He goes after girls, but he's not the smooth, popular guy. He joins the school musical, but he's not a drama nerd.

Even though this one is about a fourteen-year-old boy and told from his point of view, it has lots of female appeal, too. Anyone (and any age) can relate to Carter - we've all been freshman, we've all competed for something, and we've all had that first love.

I highly recommend this one. If you're thinking of reading it, try the audiobook - you won't be sorry!!

Thoughts:
Carter is a 14 year old guy starting high school. That includes girls with lady boobs and huge guys that have goatees. Scary place, scary place. With his ADD, his hornyness, his stuttering problem, how is he ever going to get through it, but most importantly (to him) how is he going to get laid?
Oh that Carter he is so freakin' horny! That kinda made go "sigh, that dork" but at the same time, it made me laugh sooo much! This guy is just freakin' hilarious. I love the way he thinks. Not the horny parts but how he speaks, it's just so funny. I seriously, I'm not even kidding, laughed so loud my parents heard me all the way from the living room. I just ...wow it was sooooo funny!!! I could not stop reading it because it was interesting and amusing to read about what Carter was going through. I even continued to read this book as I was waiting for Rudo y Cursi to come on (we had to wait for about 30 min, goes to show one should really check the times). It was really cool though because I was at the part where Carter was on a date at the movies. I could seriously see it happening. The part I'm talking about was where he went on a date with a girl and he had stomach problems. Hilarious. I had to try HARD not to laugh so hard because there were a few other people in the auditorium.
This is the book to pick up when you want to read something extremely hilarious so enjoy :D
Not only is it funny but it's interesting to read about Carter's "amazing" adventures. hehe
This would make for a GREAT movie. Just sayin' :D
A Look Inside:

He lookes pissed, like the last time he saw me, I kicked him in the nuts, or I stole this pizza from his grandma. Whatever his problem is, it looks like trouble.

I squeeze my butt cheeks together like a maximum-security prison trying to hold in a crazy prisoner who wants to escape and murder an innocent fourteen-year-old girl on her firs date. This sucker is not getting out!...The fart passes and goes back to whatever part of your body farts go when they fail to complete their dastardly mission. But I know it'll be back.
