An interesting paranormal romance. Not the typical vampire/werewolf store. This one is about Gargoyles. The writer set up a believable world where Gargoyles are the protectors of humans. The romance aspect of the book was good and the sex scenes hot.

A paranormal fantasy romance with the hard-boiled edge of a police thriller, combine to make CARVED IN STONE a most excellent read. From page one to the last nail-biting paragraph, Vickie Taylor manages to hook the reader into her world of gargoyles, reincarnation, second chances, and true love.
For Nathan Cross, looks are deceiving. He may look like a man, and a drop-dead gorgeous one at that with his black eyes and jet-black hair, but underneath the human exterior lies a gargoyle-a being created centuries ago to protect humankind from evil. Reincarnated a total of fourteen times, Nathan has had enough. He rebels at his orders, refusing to impregnate a human, and even leaves the congregation of the Council ruled by Teryn, the gargoyle's Wizenot.

A book where gargoyle's, not were's or vamps or aliens, are the dark hero's in turmoil? Interesting!
Rachel and Nathan, our main couple, meet during a art gallery showing and are instantly attracted. Each has their own troubles though. Rachel is there as part of an interpol mission to take down an assasin.Policework has been her lifes work since as a small child she saw her family killed by what she thought were monsters...Nathan is an excomunicated gargoyle who has lived 14 lifetimes in different ages before he was reborn into this one. Now he has decided to end his existance for good since he has been shunned by the others of his dwindeling kind.
They meet again after Nathan stumbles into Rachel's hit man and does the work for her. But she has a feeling he's not all he appears...and Nathan's freinds will need both of them to come help the gargoyles if they are to survive. Together they uncover a secret about that long ago attack on Rachel's family...

I loved this book
This was a different take on gargoyles for me. True to typical romantic "novels". Easy read but enough to keep your mind open.
Great read. Loved the suspense.

A nice change of pace for a storyline. I still marvel at writers' imaginations. Where do they come up with this stuff? In any case, I enjoyed the book, though I think the tortured soul of the hero was dragged out too long before it was explained. You don't know why he hates what he is so vehemently until almost the very end.

I enjoyed this book. I had never read a romance with Gargoyles before but hey im open...
honestly . . . not as good as i expected. i enjoyed it, but it took a while to actually play out in mu opinion.
This is a very good book. One of the first I have read about gargoyles. It's nice to read something different once in a while.
This was an okay book. Not a keeper though. I only read it because it was the first in the series and wanted to read the second book in order. I have higher hopes for the second one "Flesh and Stone". I enjoyed the characters and it's hard to really explain why the book wasn't great for me. I guess it was maybe a little to serious for me. The characters were all so serious all the time. And I'm not particularly fond of psychic episodes where they develop fantasies with each other. Regular love scenes are good and affective; not big elaborate fantasies that you find out haven't really happened by the end of them because they were in their minds. I'm just partial to Sherrilyn Kenyon's style of writing paranormal romance and I'm spoiled for anything else.
Entertaining paranormal with rather good characters and an unusual storyline.
Quite a unique storyline! Imagine a gargoyle who turns into a human. I had to buy it just to see how the storyline worked! Great read. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this book. I can see Vickie Taylor has a bright future ahead of her. I've put this on my keeper shelf with Sherrilyn Kenyon and Christine Feehan books.
Great story about Gargoyle men. It started out slow but got much better. :)
