An interesting story with at least one of the killers escaping punishment. This is still early in Gardner's "Perry Mason" series. As such, he still has Perry's secretary a bit air-headed and constantly making romantic allusions, but not as much as before. And he has cut back significantly on his characters' smoking, or at least not on every page as he did originally.

What I found most amazing was the cover art. The woman is squatting down in her bra and panties. The man, fully dressed has his knee stuck between her breasts and her high-heeled shoe in his hand. No where in the book does any scene even come close to that.
