Entertaining, although not in the same vein as Redwall. The beginning of the story is rather graphic and then becomes enjoyable. I was hoping to read it to my children, but they aren't ready for this type of book yet.
In the same tradition as his Redwall series, Brian Jaques weaves a fasinating tale of the triumph of good over evil. The story contains many memorable characters, especially the boy and his faithful dog bound together in the search for truth and justice. Redwall fans will enjoy the lively details about sea life and the use of riddles to lead the heroes to the means to save those they love. Just as Martin the Warrior intervenes in dreams of Redwall creatures, so a Heavenly being provides guidance and protection for the boy and his companion in their travels.
