I'm reading this now and loving it. Very cute and I can't wait for the next in the series. It doesn't read like a paranormal. Rather more like a romance with paranormal charachters.

Sugar Maple looks like any Vermont town, but itas inhabited with warlocks, sprites, vampires, witchesaand an ancient secret. And Chloe Hobbs, owner of Sticks & String, a popular knitting shop, has a big secret too. Sheas a sorcereras daughter in search of Mr. Rightaand sheas found him in Luke MacKenzie, a cop investigating Sugar Mapleas very first murder. Bad news is heas 100% human, which could spell disaster for a normal future with a paranormal woman like her.

Not a bad read.

And not at all what I was expecting Like the previous reviewer said, it isn't like a regular paranormal. It's pretty much a clean romance, so if you're looking for heat (i.e sex), this one doesn't really have any. But it was cute. And it's first person, but you get both the Heroine and the Hero's Point of view, so that's an added bonus. I didn't really like any of the the secondary characters, in particular the heroine's friends (I can't help but think she could find better)

So overall... I'll say it's worth reading, but not really a keeper.

One of the most unusual books I've recently read. Would not pursue reading the rest of the series.

What a sweet little paranormal love story with some very quirky scenes. There were a few laugh out loud moments.

Definitely will look forward to other books by Bretton.

I hadn't read this author before, but was looking for something light and fun at the time. And it was. Light and airy, at times humorous, and other times, you just wanted to get through to the next book in the series.

Fanciful, and not for those who like dark and mysterious.

This is such a fun book - stretches the imagination and is hard to put down. In fact, I started it one evening and didn't put it down until I finished it ( about 2 AM!!).

Chloe Hobbs owns a knitting shop in a small Vermont town called Sugar Maple. She is also the only human in the town inhabited by warlocks, faeries, vampires, werewolves, witches, and an ancient secret. She is the daughter of a Sorcerer, but her magic won't begin until she finds her Mr. Right. Even though her whole town is casting spells to find her Mr. Right, she didn't think she would find him in Luke MacKenzie, the cop investigating Sugar Maple's very first murderer.

This book was written in first person from the hero and heroine's point-of-view. I found that a little confusing. There are lots and lots of knitting references which were fun. This is a cute story that I thoroughly enjoyed. My rating: 4 Stars.

Not a lot was happening, but the book was full of fantasy paranormal activity, friends shape shifting, along with other unusual happenings..but as a reader I was not drawn into the world enough in the beginning for any of these things to be of interest.

One can't help but be thoroughly enchanted by the delightful ambiance of the story as Ms. Bretton sets a smooth pace for the story, gradually building up to the grand finale. CASTING SPELLS alternates perspectives as the story is told from both Luke and Chloe's points of views. The side story of Gunnar is a poignant one and only adds to the overall mystique as we see it unfold from the perspectives of Luke and Chloe.

I will read the next book to see how it fares.

I thought this was slow-going at first, but it was funny. I liked the diverse characters.

Delightful fantasy about a town whose inhabitants are witches, warlocks, vampires, trolls, etc. . . .all except the woman who runs the knitshop and who has to find her magic to keep the town protected. Great fun.

This book seemed like it could be a good read, but it turns out the characters are not developed very well, neither is the atmosphere - that of a Vermont town full of paranormals - brought to life all that well. I felt this was not that well written, it had a lot of potential in the subject matter but didn't live up to it...just an okay book.

This book was so good. If you read mostly Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy and shy away from a book with knitting needles on the cover, don't. The knitting references went way over my head, but I still loved the book and am looking forward to the next one.
