Interesting read. Not something I would normally pick up, but I was curious since I really liked another book by this author, The Graveyard Apartment. There is some element of horror (very low key), but mostly I enjoyed the narrative of the young live-in tutor, Masayo; her charge she tries to bond with, Momoko; Goro, the girl's playboy father; and the much-loved family cat, Lala. Tragedy ensues and family secrets come to light. It makes me want to seek more works by this author. 3.5 stars
