Midnight Louie is a fat black detective dude cat who rooms with Temple Barr, a small dynamo in P.R. This book has a very funny bit with the Fontana Bros. which makes the book even better than usual. Fans of Midnight Louie will enjoy this entry in the series.

If you love cats, Midnight Louie is worth the read. He may be a loner, but he always comes through for his lady.

Fourth in the series. This book reveals more about Matt Devine and his reasons for joining, and then leaving, the priesthood. I give credit to Ms. Douglas for presenting this information in an understanding way, while not making a blanket condemnation of the Catholic Church or the priesthood. This wasn't precisely a murder whodunit. There was a body, but his murder was apparently incidental to another crime, and it isn't directly solved. There is still a complete feeling to the story though, except for the open question in the series about the disappearance of Max.

Midnight Louie, the best tomcat in the crime-solving business, and his human partner, petite redhead publicist Temple Barr, are once again in the thick of things in the city of sin.
