Easy to read mystery book including two cats -- Pancho (a Maine coon cat) and Pancho ("a lunatic half-tailed refugee from the ASPCA"). Enjoyed reading about the main character's travels in and about Greenwich Village and her association with the "Village Cat People" -- a service for cat owners with problem pets.

After hiring someone from the Village Cat People to come to her apartment and tranquilize her cat Bushy so she can get him to the vet, actress and cat-sitter Alice Nestleton's usually tumultuous life is once again turned upside-down as murder drops in (literally)...

Stolen anarchist treasure and Edna St Vincent Millay memories thread through the plot. Interesting history of Old New York as well as the West Village.

The Alice Nestleton mystery series is catnip for all mystery fans, so says the book jacket. Read them and find out they're right.

Alice Nestleton's acting career has a case of the no-nos - no auditions, no jobs, no money. Even her cat-sitting work is dwindling and to add injury to insult, her harum-scarum kitty, Pancho, turns into a cat from hell rather than enter his carrier for a nail cutting trip to the vet. The solution is to call in the professionals, the Village Cat People, a service for cat owners with problem pets. Unfortunately, a far bigger problem arruves when Martha, the Cat People representative is murdered at Alice's front door. The police calll it a mugging, Martha's co-workers call it an assassination. They want Alice, a well known amateur sleuth to investigage.
