Cute story. Easy and fun read. I am absolutely in love with Shadow!
It features a light plot, decent dialogue, a couple nutty characters, a couple "real" characters (the next door types) and remember to suspend reality when it comes to the part about the Ukrainian gangsters.
All in all, a good read. Don't even bother to pick it up if you're looking for anything other than a mindless read.

Let sleeping cats lie⦠â Kittery Harbor, Maine, may not be a hotbed of criminal activity, but Sunny Coolidge and her feline companion, Shadow, have a knack for nosing out trouble. While Shadow copes with a sore paw and an irritating puppy invading his turf, Sunny gets mixed up in a financial dispute between rival vets and ex-spouses Jane and Martin Rigsdale. Sunny agrees to help Jane confront Martin about his moneygrubbing ways, only to find herself caught at the scene of a crime: Martin has been murdered.
Though Jane is pegged as the lead suspect in the investigation, Martin, with his greedy ways and his catting around, did not have a shortage of enemies. Did a scorned lover or cheated creditor put Martin down for good? It's time for Sunny and Shadow to team up again, sniff out a killer, and clear Jane's name before someone decides to put them to sleep, too.

I really liked the first one in this series, but this one was just good, not great. It felt a little drawn out. Again, the most enjoyable part is the narration by the cat referring to people and things. Not sure if I will try the 3rd in this series, but I likely will.
Fun to think I can tell what a cat is thinking. This is a cozy mystery with a twist. Fun characters and a cat who knows his own mind. But then don't they all?
The winter morning air was clean and clear as glass--and sharp enough to cut like glass, too.?
Sunny Coolidge is back with her cat Shadow. Jane, the local vet, is confronted by her ex-husband, Martin, who is also a vet. He and Jane's practices differ as much as their dealing with money. Jane becomes the prime suspect in Martin's death after she and Jane discover his body in his clinic. Multiple affairs on his part as well dirty money creates a pool of suspects if only the police will look beyond Jane.
I enjoy the portion of the book told from Shadow's point of view. He has his own vocabulary for common objects that make me smile. His insecurity gets him in trouble that he may not be able to return from.
A good solid read. 3.5 stars

I enjoyed the first book in this series so I bought the second one..Big mistake..The plot is almost non existent and it could have been written for 5 yr. olds. I finished it but only because it took no thought to do so.
