This is number 12 in a series I thought I would never like to read. Silly me! I became hooked on Ms. Rousseau-Murphys' writing from the first paragraph of book 1. Believe it or not, the three main cat characters are so believably written, I had no difficulty at all falling into the world where they exist. I'd love to live there! This time Dulcies' person, Wilma, has been kidnapped and so has her niece, Charlie. The reaction of the cats - Joe, Dulcie and Kit - are, of course, instantly springing into action. Their detective skills and their need for interacting with some humans is a sight to behold in any story, and particularly in this one. The author uses characters from previous books in this series, but the story never seems overweighted or trite. PLEASE, read this book - I don't think you will be sorry. But, like another reviewer, I think the series would best be read in the order the books were written and intended. So much in the earlier books about the past of the cats and their people is now firm groundwork when used in this book and Joes' sense of irony is delicious!

This is the newest of her series. If you haven't read any of her books I recommend you start with the first one before getting this. Please let this go to someone who has followed the series.:)
