I read a lot of sci fi, and this is my favorite series, by far. Each book focuses on a different member of the ruling family, and each is
excellent. Good as stand alones, as well, and need not be read in any particular order to enjoy.

Sci-fi author Catherine Asaro includes a very strong romantic component in her writing. This is the second book in the Skolian Empire saga. A young girl from earth falls in love with a handsome stranger, and becomes a pawn in an interstellar war. I enjoyed this series very much.
