Lori Foster's always a safe bet! I don't usually go for the shorter Harlequins, but when it's an author I know I like.... ;)
Pretty good! But I must not be in the mood to forgive and forget, because I'm still mad at Mick for the "big misunderstanding" part of the plot. (Yes, this book has one of *those* plots.) If I were Del, he'd still be toast! But other than that, this was a fun read. I really liked the crazy researching mystery writer idea for Del's character -- enough that I think this would have made a good longer book, with some of her research technics and/or research assisting characters written about in more than just passing detail! I also liked that she's not the helpless type -- she's actually got a head on her shoulders, and can think on her feet when needed.

You can definitely tell that this is one of Lori Foster's earlier books. It starts out a bit rough with cop Mick Dawson setting his sights on writer Delilah Piper- it all feels a bit obsessive. Eventually a plot emerges- Del is involved in a robbery and trust issues emerge. Lots of steamy scenes and characters from her previous books appear here as well.

As always, Lori Foster is a good story teller. She writes hot sex scenes and humor into her novels. We first met the heroine in Beguiled when he was a teenager. But now he is all grown up!
summary:
Mick has been admiring Del from afar and decides to follow her into a jewelry store and finally meet her. But before he can act, the store is robbed and it ends up with him getting shot trying to protect her. He is an undercover cop and she is a mystery novelist, known for her odd ways of researching by hanging out with the criminal element. She insists on taking him home with her from the hospital to help him recover. They begin to fall for each other, but some things don't add up for Mick about the robbery...Is is possible that Del was in on it??? ... You'll have to read the book to find out!!!

Lori Foster has done it again. Her characters are always endearing and this story is no different. Del is an author of mystery and suspense novels that really like to research her books from a hands on approch and Mick is an undercover Vice cop and when their two worlds collide watch out. If you are a fan of this talented author you will not be let down by this story. Fast moving, and plenty of romance that Ms. Foster is famous for. With plenty of fun secondary characters this was a page turner. A great way to spend a weekend.
