I didn't think this was quite as good as the Bridget Jones books, but Fielding definitely has a flair for heroines who get themselves into hilariously embarrassing situations. Anyone who likes British chick lit will enjoy it.

A wonderful story of a young woman Rosie, who has an epiphany when she realizes that her life in London is ....frivolous. Instead of shopping to make herself feel better, she abandons the world she knows to help others.
Written by the author of BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY, this novel is a wake-up call intending to make the public aware of the need for continued support in the fight against African famine.
Chick lit with substance!

Very interesting change from the Bridget Jones books. Much more serious side, and yet the fun moments are very very fun.

Surprising book from Fielding. While Bridget Jones was fun, this had a slightly more serious slant. I enjoyed it as did friends who borrowed it.

Interesting book where famine relief work is juxtapositioned with true chick lit episodes.

If you're a Bridget Jones fan, give Helen Fielding's other book a try!

I loved this book for several reasons. For one, I had just read The Cottage and The Bleachers and found them both so dull I could hardly get myself to read on. This book, however was a real page turner for me because I loved Helen Fielding's style. She's my kind of woman and she made me laugh out loud several times in this one. It's a great story told with an easy to read style. I don't know if men would really get it or not, but I recommend it for all types of people.

Good. Starts off slow, with typical English dry humore, but leaves you laughing out loud towards the end.

Very witty and funny with touches of sadness and horror(for the famine stricken refugee in the African desert). Very good read!

From the author of Bridget Jones' Diary, this fun book also opens the world of humanitarian work in Africa. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book isn't Bridget Jones but is, nonetheless, still pretty entetaining. The pace moves quickly and all though I had a hard time accepting the main character as real it was an enjoyable story with good dialogue and story development.

If you're looking for another "Bridget Jones", it is not. It is, however, pretty darn good anyway. It also gets one thinking about third-world issues in a non-threatening way, which I think is very positive. I had a hard time putting it down.
