What a marvelous find this novel is! At moments it is brutal, at others charmingly innocent, often with touches of light and humor. The characters come alive in your mind and heart and stay with you long after you finish reading. I'll be looking for more of this author's work, for sure.
One of my favorite reads. Shani Mootoo's words made me smell the flowers.
Loved, loved, loved this book. Mootoo is a master storyteller. Fascinating premise & perspective. Artfully carried off with nary a seam showing. Quite a feat.
I liked this book and the fictional world that is created. Sort of magical realism and also had a disturbing side, but enjoyable.
