The Charioteer Author:Mary Renault Life as both a soldier and a gay man during World War II-a classic of gay fiction. “Renault is one of the major novelists of our time. Her insights are phenomenal...her rendering of truth as she sees it forthright, courageous, informative, and stirring” (New York Herald Tribune).
Renault's tale about a British soldier coming to terms with his homosexuality is wonderful storytelling and keeps your interest throughout. A change of pace from her ancient Greece-type of books, but just as entertaining.
