This was a "can't put it down" read. It is so unexpected, with so many twists and turns in the plot, that I couldn't imagine how the protagonists were going to get out of the trouble. Even so It managed to be really funny in places.

'The first time the young Viscount saw the girl, he thought she was a child; a child in trouble, running away....'

This is the first Heyer book I've really, really liked, but I'm not sure if that has more to do with the book than my getting used to her style. The plot is fun, easy to follow, and the writing is straightforward and fun. It's not a heavy or deep book, and you can probably read it in a few days or a week at most, but I liked it.

Like all Georgette Heyer books, this one is a page-turner. She has an unerring ear for the early 19th century English vernacular. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this book as I have most of all of Heyer's Regencies.

A fine Heyer romance with her usual absorbing story and accurate details of the period and sparkling dialogue.

This book is actually hardback, in good condition. I couldn't find an isbn for it. It's one of Heyer's best. The only reason i'm posting it, is that I have an extra copy.
