This volume contains two sequels, both which take place after the Civil War.
1. "Chase the Thunder" is the sequel to "Against the Thunder" and tell Sean Mallory and Ty Donaldson's story. Sean is searching for Bob Wilson who killed his friend and continues to threaten his family. He meets up with Casey Saunders who is seeking her own revenge against Wilson for killing her father. With Ty, they concoct a plan to make sure Wilson hurts nobody else
2. "Against the Wind" is the sequel to "Miracle of the Heart." Seth Hampton is heading to California on a wagon train. He accompanies Kate MacAllister and her family but is met by her hatred of all Southern people.
The first two books can be found in the book "The Soldier and the Rebel." All, in all they were pretty good stories of people beginning new lives after the ravages of war.

CHASE THE THUNDER
The evil soldier from the first book, Bob Wilson, has killed one of Sean Mallorys friends and continues to threaten Mallorys sister and husband. Sean decides that he must eliminate the threat of Wilson before he murders others. He sees it as his fault for not realizing the vindictiveness of Wilson while they were both Confederate soldiers.
Along the way, Sean is joined by Casey Saunders and Ty Donaldson. Casey Saunders is seeking revenge against Wilson for killing her father, the town sheriff. Gunman Ty Donaldson wants to repay Sean for saving his life and offers to help him get Wilson. Unfortunately, Sean doesnt want the help of either person but sees hes powerless to stop them.
This is a great story and there was enough action to keep the story humming along. After reading BETWEEN THE THUNDER, I was anxious for Sean to have a story; I wasn't disappointed. 4.5 stars
AGAINST THE WIND
This is the story of Dr. Seth Hampton, the man who did not get the girl in MIRACLE OF THE HEART. I enjoyed this one much more than the MIRACLE . Seth could not stay in Virginia with his brother, who had married the woman Seth also loved. He decides to go by wagon train to California.
This story impresses on the reader the continuing hatred between North and South even though the war ended a year previously. The losing soldiers were reviled because of the grief the war created. For years after the fighting stopped, the animosity was awful.
This is a great story, even though it is fairly short. 4.5 stars
