I won this book as part of a Goodreads Giveaway and truly enjoyed it! Author David Howard has thoroughly researched this engaging true story of two young FBI agents who found themselves drawn into an increasingly complex undercover operation as they infiltrated the white-collar fraud world of Phillip Kitzer, a whip-smart and personable con artist. The FBI was evolving from the J. Edgar Hoover agency, and was unprepared for complex undercover work. White-collar crime was also an unfamiliar arena, so the agents were flying by the seat of their pants.

Howard brings a sensitive and deft touch to the narration, providing just enough detail without getting overly bogged down, and shaping his characters with empathy and nuance.
