Cheddar Late Than Dead is the third installment in the Grilled Cheese Mystery series set in Balsam Dell, Vermont and features Carly Hale, owner of Carly's Grilled Cheese Eatery. Carly's former high school classmates Klarissa Taddeo and Dawn Chapin turn up in the eatery and Carly learns that Klarissa is engaged to Tony Manuous and Dawn is acting as the wedding planner for the couple. When the venue for the bridal shower fall through, Carly finds herself volunteering to cater the affair at Dawn's mother's home.
Tensions are running high at the shower between Dawn and her mother, Klarissa and her soon to be mother in law but things really go wrong when the groom makes a sudden appearance at the shower and winds up dead at the bottom of the majestic staircase. Tony was poisoned and Chief Fred Holloway strongly suspects that Dawn. Despite his warnings not to get involved Carly is soon caught up in "flipping" out the real killer.
