I loved this journey about a kickass heroine Alex, a medical doctor who specializes in concocting chemical weapons of torture for the government. She is an expert in getting information from terrorists. When her own agency kills her partner, she goes on the run for her life.
Enter twin brothers and the story progresses in leaps and bounds, and I couldn't do anything but read this thrilling, breathtaking story without a break!
I loved each character, felt their pain, rejoiced and cheered in their successes and was depressed when things went wrong. I was delighted to read about dogs in the story, as they played a vital part in the strategy of the protagonists plans.
Of course, I wanted to take them all home, especially Einstein! My love of dogs is all consuming!!!
Absolutely LOVED this book. 5 Stars!

One wild ride that kept me glued to the pages! Who knew I would enjoy a badass heroine--a professional torturer--so much? Her on-the-run lifestyle was fascinating, and her unexpected partners were awesome in their own rights. Intelligent and entertaining. You really don't want to miss this one. 4.5 stars.

I was really surprised by how much I liked this book. I was not a fan of the Twighlight books, but this book sounded very intriguing so I thought I would give it a chance. The main character used to work for a secret sector of the government that dealt with retrieving vital information from terrorists by using chemical torture. Now she is on the run from the same agency who is trying to kill her. She has been focused on living for three years, but when she finds out that there is more to her story than she knows and she isn't as alone as she thought she was, is she going to be able to let her guard down and trust anyone else, if it will help save her?
Very interesting book and great because it has a female heroine who beats the guys at their game using her talents and resources.
I was surprised to find this to be a fast paced, intense and exciting thriller! I loved the characters. I just had a slight problem that I was left questioning the outcome of a couple of four legged characters I really wanted specifics about.
A woman on the run, aka âAlexâ, is trying to survive day by day. She used to work for the government doing things to people to make others tell their secrets. She is a smart scientist who is running from her former bosses until one day one of those former bosses asks her to do one last torture to gain information to save the world from a deadly virus, after that she is free. She agrees and soon finds the job they gave her isn't what she thought it was. Surprise, surprise the boss lied.
So far I have pretty much read all Stephenie Meyer's books. I have really liked the non-Twilight books the best. This fits in that category. âAlexâ is not your regular heroine. She is no angel and has done many bad things. Things she uses to keep herself safe is almost very James Bond-like. She is very smart and very scared. I enjoyed the little touches about the earring and rings with poison. The beginning of the book I was a little leary and wasn't into it but that changed pretty soon after. I love the book the characters even if some of the book was over the top but for me, it was one of those books that I wasn't sure what was going to happen.
One dislike would only be the romance part. While I did like the thought of the romance, I think in real life this would never happen but that is what fictional stories do. They create the unimaginable and make you believe things that you may not have thought of.
The Chemist is rumored to be the start of a series, just like The Host. I am eagerly awaiting a new book by Mrs. Meyer. I check her website a lot. If you decide to read this keep an open mind it is entertaining fiction, not a philosophical book.

This book was selected for my book club. Our group had mixed reviews towards it. I overall very much liked the book. It was at times very intense and action packed. This is one that I feel would be a great movie.
Ugh, I'm trying to console myself with the fact that I cannot be the only one who picked this up based on the author. This book dragged and left me feeling weighted with ugly things. I wish I had saved myself the time. If swearing, nudity, extra-marital affair, supposed love at first site, pre-marital sex, violence, kidnapping, torture, and murder are your thing you'll find it all jammed into this. If they aren't please don't waste your time putting it all into your life because that is what you'll have at the end of this book.
