Another in the Sharon McCone series set in San Francisco. She learns much about the "Painted Ladies" and a one-of-a-kind Tiffany lamp....and is implicated in her friend Jake's death.

To tourist, bay-windowed Victorian mansions are quaint, peaceful symbols of old San Francisco. But on the secluded hill above Steiner Street, the gingerbread has sparked a bitter battle between the ambitious developers and the residents who do not want their homes restored. As workmen rip though layers of sheetrock, plaster and wallpaper they unearth a cache of stolen antiques and a missing one of a kind Tiffany lamp emblazoned with the profile of a Cheshire Cat.

I have read all of Marcia Muller's Sharon McCone series. I love the all.
Love Sharon McCone. Through her diligence and fearlessness she solves the case. Quick read and you even learn a little about San Francisco in this one.

Great series. Easy reading. This is one of the early ones, but it's entertaining.
