It was a must have when my parents bought it when I was little. I never will get bored of this book.

This is such a fun book! It's a song too maybe Carly Simon or a similar singer. I heard it in my granddaughter's classroom. It is so much fun to sing along with the kids and it helps to learn the months. "Spouting once, spouting twice-spouting chicken soup with rice" hey this would be fun to have a chicken and rice soup lunch with the grandbabies and to read the book! Sorry, I don't remember which month that was for so you'll have to get the book and find out!

I liked it so much I have one for my house and for the grandkids home. It is used in many elementary grades to learn the months. Each month has a different rhyme about chicken soup with rice-have a chicken soup with rice party and enjoy the story. "Spouting once, spouting twice-spouting chicken soup with rice" - sorry not sure which month that is for but it's about a whale.

A classic that children still love and the drawings fit the character of the book. The rhyming text is great for language development, plus it is a fun way to learn the months of the year.
