This book represents Grantly Dick-Read's life's work. He was able to see past the myths and fears surrounding childbirth in the "civilized world" and discovered the beauty, the strength, and the ability of a woman's body to perform labor and birth in a comfortable and enjoyable way--without the need for drugs. His expression of confidence in women and our abilities are beautiful. This book is uplifting and inspiring.
I learned about this book during my first pregnancy when I took a HypnoBirthing class. HypnoBirthing is based on the principles found in Childbirth Without Fear. I have now had two wonderful, empowering, and drug-free births, thanks to the ideas of this great man. I couldn't be more grateful!
