And lifted some candy It was probably chocolate As I have always been hooked On that delectable substance It was a thrillicious experience No one said boo to me No one suggested that I was headed for a life of crime, or Wondered about my upbringing And most important, No one called the cops Years later I pondered The meaning of all this I thought about how An accident of birth To this family Rather than that family Shielded me from Those heavy consequences |
