I really really tried to stick with this book and I did make it about half way BUT, it really is just a cheesy harlequin romance and I hate those! but I wanted to give it a chance to get good and it never did.
There was just too many pages of descriptions of the same 'event', I mean how much can you say about crossing a river but then you have the heroine scared to death of it and then it takes pages to find out why
It really doesn't have any suspense to it at all, portions of the story unfolds all the way and I skipped and skimmed to find the result, I guess there is steamy sex scene at the end somewhere(glad I missed that!) but the rest of the book just wasn't good enough for me to give it but 1 star

Chilled is right ..... the entire book takes place in the Cascade Mountains in winter... with lots of snow and rain. Cold, cold nights .... and a cold-blooded killer.
Alex Kinton is a former US Marshall who is going after his brother's killer to serve his own justice. Darrin Besand is on a plane transporting him to Oregon to stand trial, only he never makes it that far. The plane crashes in the mountains leaving the pilots and US Marshall all dead.
Kinton joins the search & rescue unit to find the plane ... and Darrin Besand.
Not only do we have a killer on the loose, we have rushing mountain rivers, an avalanche, a corrupt Marshall sending his own men in to get rid of Kinton, a beautiful woman, her very jealous ex-boyfriend and several other secondary characters that add flavor to the story.
I am giving it 5 stars because I like this author's writings .... I like the action and excitement..and this particular story had me putting on my socks ( my Arizona winter wear).
Note: Very explicit sex .. but only at the very end of the book.
Now on to BURIED ... the 3rd in the series.

A search and rescue team is sent into the Cascade Mountains to search for a plane that never made it to its destination. On board the plane is a U.S. Marshall moving Serial Killer Darren Besand to a new prison. Before the team leaves, they are joined by Alex Kinton. Alex is a former U.S. Marshall who wants to make sure Besand never has a chance to hurt anyone else. The four men and one woman, Nurse Brynn Nealey, trek through the forest, across rivers, and deep into the wilderness before finding the wreckage. Besand is not among the bodies on the plane. As the weather turns bad, the team is forced to take cover. With food running out and a serial killer in the area, Alex and Brynn wonder if they'll make it out alive.
My favorite romantic suspense stories have the hero and heroine not only taking on the villain, but also taking on mother nature. Whether the book is set in the hot humid jungle or a blinding snowstorm, I'm in for the ride. I had a hard time putting this book down. I loved the setting with the extreme temperatures and constant snow. Fighting against a killer and the elements ramped up the suspense. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
