Nick Grant has returned to high school after his big adventure in the Pacific. But after all his excitement, he's bored with his classes. His only saving grace is his part-time job at Pan American Airways. If all goes as planned, he could become the youngest flight engineer in their history if he passes the exam in a few weeks.
The Pan American shining star, the China Clipper, is about to make its debut and security abounds at the Alameda airfield. Nick is suspicious of employees there, but no one will believe him when he tries to convince those in authority of the possible sabotage attempts.
Nick proves his hunches right, and problems are prevented. However, Nick still has uneasy feelings. He's positive that the bad guy, Miyazaki from his previous adventure, is still lurking around. And when he finds himself in Hawaii visiting his girlfriend, the man he knows as Miyazaki has disguised himself as a businessman that Mr. Porta is dealing with. Nick knows something is up, and is determined to protect Leilani and her family, whatever the cost. Involving the FBI and key military personnel, Nick finds himself in the middle of a plot to sell sensitive radio frequency equipment.
CHINA CLIPPER is another page-turning thriller by Jamie Dodson. Picking up not long after FLYING BOATS & SPIES, the action is fast, and the historical detail educational. As with the first book in the Nick Grant series, it is appropriate for anyone with short chapters and suspense. Boys especially will be able to relate to the life of Nick Grant. This series by Jamie Dodson is just begging to be made into a movie!
