Good plot and very interesting, intriguing characters.
The writing style is not my favorite - but it's a worthwhile read.

This novel provides many of the formulaic plot-points that fans associate with the Burke character - his "family by choice" and the many side characters from past novels that help him along the way. However, there are changes to his life in this novel and a further delving into his past give us a further view into the mysteries of the main character. The psychological aspects of this book are good especially those sections dealing with the killer which are quite chilling. The ending of the novel had a "rushed" feel to it but many of the Burke books end in break-neck fashion. It seemed, though, that Vachss did not know how to end the story or simply grew tired of writing it . Slightly disappointing but not enough to dissuade me from recommending it to fans.
Not the best book in the series but worthwhile for the character study of the killer.
