This is a better book than 3 stars but I am not a critic just a fan.Choke point is the second in the Roscoe Brinker mysteries. This first one Lovers Crossing is listed here too.Roscoe is a a former Border guard in this one he has been fired for shooting a Mexican national(the book was written in 2006).It was in defense of his and others life. But you gotta read the first one to understand. Now he is a PI and in this book he is helping a LA reporter doing a story on the border crossing,in Arizona.A story of murder.Brinker turns her down. The next morning she turns up dead.

The series is very good try it.

The borderlands atmosphere is very realistic and it shows the AZ-Mexico cross-border realities very well

Former border patrol agent, Roscoe Brinker, is approached by an LA reporter to help investigate the death of an undocumented Mexican in Arizona. He turns her down and when she too is killed, he feels compelled to intervene.
