This excerpt from the introduction sums up the theme of this book: "A lot of what people call nice behavior is really fear, cowardice, and even sin in disguise. Many women are nice not because they truly care about other people, but because they fear conflict and rejection. That's not peacemaking. That's peace-faking ..." The chapters are short and use biblical quotes and stories to support the theme. Each chapter ends with a vignette about a hypothetical CNG (Christian Nice Girl) and how she changes her behavior to become a GGW (God's Good Woman). I found the vignettes very helpful as a way to consider changing my own behaviors. I wish I had read this book many years ago!
