When Both of 12 year old Robert's parents are injured; he must become the man of the family. His kind neighbors who are elderly help a lot, but he must take care of the snow shoveling, orchard and fill the furnace with coal until his dad recovers. It is a lot of of responsibility for a 12 year old boy in the 1950's. Robert's mom is a woman of prayer and she prays and believes that her husband will recover. Robert being still a child, takes on his dad's responsibilities not knowing how long it will take his dad to recover. A beautiful, nostalgic story of the 1950's when their was a lot of neighborly love and compassion.
