Well I'll be. I am for certainly unsure if I can say enough good things about the book "A Lady Like Sarah" or my new favorite author Margaret Brownley (and no it is not because of her elegant name). As many of you that read my reviews know, my favorite Christian Historical Romantic Comedy author of American west novels is Mary Connealy... well I can honestly say that Margaret Brownley rates right up there with this book and I am ecstatically (is that a word?) excited for more. More Rocky Creek Romance or more anything, just give me more.
I was amused. I giggled and grinned. I chuckled and snuggled down further in my reading nook. I was irritated and emotional. I shed slight tears. I could hear Sarah's voice and see her boots. These characters were alive and amazing to me. I read an ARC, but you better believe this is one for the keeper shelf. On a final note: The saloon scene made me squeal and cry, and I love my fellow quilters and that is all I have to say about that.

This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading more from her, especially in this series. This was one of those books that doesn't ask a lot of you, so it is perfect for a lazy afternoon of reading. I liked the characters and the storyline was well-developed. I cheered the ending and look forward to the next book of the series.

What a great story! Sarah's transformation from running from everything to standing for what she came to believe in is a remarkable journey with heart. Great job Ms Brownley
This is book #1 of the Rocky Creek romances, they must be re-releasing it. I loved this story and am just about the start "A Suitor for Jenny" which is #2 and then the new "Lucy" one is #3.
Rev. Justin Wells is on his way via horse to Rocky Creek, Texas, as the new pastor. He was forced to leave his last church in Boston and now he is starting to doubt his faith. In Missouri, he meets a redheaded woman in handcuffs with a dying US Marshal lying nearby. Justin and Sarah try to save the Marshal, but he asks Wells to take his prisoner to Texas to meet her day with the rope. Shocked, Wells promises. After Sarah and the reverend try to save his life, the Marshal still dies.
This is a different type of Western story. On their journey, the couple finds an orphaned baby near starvation. After burying the child's family and a dead Indian, they continue their travels. There is humor, drama, problems, and a justice system eager to put an end to Sarah Prescott. Overall score = 4.5 stars.
Rocky Creek Romance
** 1. A Lady Like Sarah (2009)
2. A Suitor for Jenny (2010)
3. A Vision of Lucy (2011)

While I didn't find this book as humorous as some, I did find it to be a very entertaining story. The cute little gems from Sarah's phrasing of her observations did bring cause a smile or two. The spiritual growth of Sarah and her family's loyalty were inspiring to read. I especially enjoyed Sarah's prayers as she gained confidence in her faith.
Besides the change in Sarah, the city preacher relocating to TX found the value of country ways and a new view of how to minister to his new TX flock.
A sweet romance with a bit of adventure. This book was well worth reading and I'll watch for more books by Margaret Brownley.

Despite reading several glowing reviews, I was disappointed with this book. I felt the romance came too early in the book and it felt almost forced. I didn't fall in love with the characters, either, and found some of their actions questionable. To be fair, it did have some funny parts, and the epilogue had me laughing out loud, but not so much that I would particularly reccommend it.

I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the characters. Not a book I want to read over & over but still a fun read.
I loved the book. The characters are great, the story line kept twisting, so I wasn't sure how in the world it would end up good...but it really did. Great story!
Love reading Christmas books during the Christmas season! Really enjoyed this one!!!
I loved, loved, loved this book! Couldn't read fast enough. Sarah's transformation to a lady, and her spiritual birth, were not the only ones in the book. I can't wait to read the next in the series about Rocky Creek.
I really like this book. The author did a very good job, in the romance department.
I love anything written by Donna VanLiere.
Warm feel good reads, recommend to anyone looking for a good comfortable read.
