Great read. Anyone who is married to a man in the ministry, or even just in a church leadership postion, will definitely enjoy this book. You'll find yourself saying "been there, done that," all along the way. You'll be encouraged as you see how the Lord works through his creation, and you'll come away with a new appreciation for all those "church ladies" you know.

I LOVE Lisa Samson's books and this one definitely did not disappoint. She works some very deep theological issues into engaging, accessible stories and characters, as well as pulling off lots of laugh-out-loud comments along the way! This novel truly resonated with me, as I think it will with anyone who has been in a marriage or a life for years and it has struggling with the sameness or day-to-day-ness of it. The importance of asking for God's help in these struggles was emphasized and I have been uplifted by reading it.
I was so glad that Poppy, the preacher's wife was portrayed as a real person with real feelings, thoughts, faults, cares, ideas, failings and such. Poppy's Hubby decided to become a preacher and she was not sure what she would make of herself or what a Preacher's wife was supposed to be. Little by little she begins to open up to some friends and female parishioners who all try to help in whatever way they can. Then there is a small interfaith contest sort of going on which makes things a bit testy. But it all comes away better than expected. Many taking comfort in that special joy that God sends to all his believers. This is a sweet Christian read a bit on the realistic part of beginning as a preacher and a preacher's wife. Give it a try

A deliciously different read. Quirky, edgy and original. Laugh out loud funny and soul deep serious. Every character comes alive. It was great!
