For Chick Lit, this is a really good book. I could identify since I worked in the film industry where you had to be "one of the boys." I enjoyed this very much. A change of pace.

From the back of the book:

My boyfriend wanted to visit me on locations, but his parole officer wouldn't let him. That was the beginning of the end of our relationship.
"I'm really bummed," he said. "Being on the set would have been good for my career."
Six weeks out after doing two years in prison ald already he was talking the talk.
"Which career?" I asked gently.
"Acting." He said it as if he was stating the obvious.
There it was, the flashing neon sign, warning me of a future filled with acting classes, headshots, more classes, more headshots. None of which he could afford. And the truth is, he wasn't even a good enough actor to convince me he was in love with me. It was not a pretty picture. My search for Mr. Maybe had left me to an ex-con actor wannabe. This is not where I thought I'd be at twenty-eight.

This was just an ok book to me. Nothing really stood out to make it memorable.

Fun, Hollywood book. The story of a smart girl trying to date seriously for the first time. The problem is, she lives and works in Los Angeles. And for a non-bimbo in a town tht thoroughly celebrates bimbosity, it was never going to be easy.

"The Cigarette Girl" was a book I wanted to hate but ended up really enjoying. The characters were flawed and interesting and bazaar. Nothing in the plot really stood up as unique but the author's take on the old time story was fun. Its a definite read-for-15-min-a-day-when-you-have-time book.
