It can be helpful for children to learn that not only people have families, but so do animals. This book introduces the child to the concept of a family that does not neccesarily live together, but are held together by the bonds of family never the less. Clifford and Emily Elizabeth pay a visit to the city where Clifford was born. He visits his siblings, his mother, and his father. Of course, being dogs, they all live in different homes. Sometimes people live in different homes too. Love and affection within a family can extend beyond the walls of one home. Norman Bridwell intended for each of his books to teach an important lesson in values. This book holds true to this admirably.
