Matthew Marshall, founder of a telecommunications empire, had it all-a beautiful wife and children, houses in Corfu, Telluride, and Antigua-and appears to have been it all-war hero, self-made man, and generous donor to charity. However, his untimely death and a strange codicil added to his will a few weeks before his death stipulating that half of his estate go to an unknown daughter cast doubt on much of his life. Adam Bruno, an erstwhile lawyer who is investigating the existence of the daughter, discovers that Marshall commanded great loyalty from those who knew him but revealed little of himself in return. The only clues lie in a remote cabin in upstate New York that serves as a memorial to Marshall's experiences in the Vietnam War.

Move over, John Grisham. Topor's electrifying nail-biter, The Codicil, is a masterwork of mystery and suspense. Wealthy industrialist Matthew Marshall dies in a hunting cabin. His wife and family are stunned to learn that half of his $105 million estate is bequeathed-in a codicil to his will-to a child they never knew existed. The estate hires Adam Bruno, a street-smart former lawyer, to find the child, who may be the product of an affair dating back to Marshall's service in Vietnam. Marshall's closely held secrets resemble a fortress that Bruno must crack as every clue appears to lead down a blind alley. As Bruno makes headway, the heirs become restless. Bruno's job leads to danger when his office is burglarized and one of Marshall's old army buddies is killed. Narrator Dale Hull's fabulous performance does justice to Topor's outstanding drama. Highly recommended.
I really like this book as it was about a very difficult search and find..great ending
